Q: Can I create new albums on iPhone iOS10 and import them to the Photos app on a Mac?

I remember that I used to take some pictures, created albums on the photos app, and put those pictures to the newly created albums, all on the iPhone.  Then when I got home, I connected the iPhone to the Mac and Photos app would open on the Mac and I could import all pictures and the created albums to the Mac.  After done, I open the iTunes and select those Albums and sync back to the iPhone.

But after upgrade to macOS Sierra, the Photos app on Mac do not show my newly created Album on the iPhone. Though I can still import all photos from iPhone to the Mac, but I have to re-create albums on the Photos app on the Mac.  What's wrong?

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12), 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    On Mac, System Preferences..., iCloud:

    iCloud Photo Sharing is turned ON. Other options are off.

    On iPhone, Settings, iCloud, Photos:

    iCloud Photo Sharing is turned ON. Other options are off.

    (Mac and iPhone are using the same Apple ID, checked)

    Workflow ('-' on iPhone, '*' on Mac):

    - open Photos app on iPhone;

    - select a few pictures from the Camera Roll;

    - tap Add To at the bottom;

    - tap New Album...;

    - enter a name for the Album (then tap on Albums and confirm that the new album is there and the selected pictures are in the new album);

    * open Photos app (version 2.0) on Mac (macOS Sierra version 10.12);

    * open Preferences of Photos;

    * check on General tab that the library in use is correct and the "Use as System Photo Library" is dimmed;

    * check on iCloud tab that "iCloud Photo Sharing" is the only one checked;

    -* connect iPhone to the Mac with a Lightning-to-USB cable;

    * iPhone icon and text appears under "import" in the Photos app on the Mac;

    Now, I can see and select pictures on the iPhone appearing on the Mac Photos app for import, but I cannot see nor import already created albums on the iPhone.

    * I can further select pictures for import (and "Delete Items imported" checked) on the Photos app, and they appear in the Last Import album as expected;

    - but from the iPhone, the newly created album under My Albums is still there but with 0 picture inside it.

    * The newly created album does not appear anywhere on the Photos app.
