Q: Mail won't open

When I open Mail app in the new Sierra OS, it won't open. A window appears with the message

"While you wait, you can read about the new features in mail..." (as a link)

the program never passes beyond that point.

Can someone give me an idea of how to solve that? Is that happening to anyone else?

While Mail is displaying the "While you wait...", Open an Applications > Utilities > Terminal window and paste in the following command:

ps -ax | grep -i mail

Paste the output of the command here.

I know I'm not the original asker, but this has been happening to me too. I've reinstalled the OS, re-downloaded the OS and reinstalled again, and tried waiting for the requisite many hours.

I did what you said in Terminal and got this:
2316 ?? 0:00.39 /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail
2486 ttys000 0:00.00 grep -i mail
