    Yes

     

    BUT

     

    It is not recommended since you will save very little disk space and you might need the iPhoto library again - it is best to keep it for at least three months to be sure you do not need it again and then archive it prior to deleting

    Bit is it important to keep the original iPhoto Library pix for three months. What will happen if I delete it straight away?

    As long as you're sure that the migrated Photos library has all of your photos and organizational effort that was in the iPhoto library you can delete it.  You will only save a few GBs in doing so, not the amount that the Finder says it is occupying on the hard drive.

    It is not the least bit important unless you need it again in which case it is critical - like a backup you can risk losing everything and not keep it or you can practice safe computing and always have a current backup and keep your iPHoto library for a reasonable time - and again deleting it will save very little space so there are lots of reasons not to delete it and few not to delete it - what you do is totally up to you.
