iPad Pro 12.9 - Split Key board Missing

Is there anyway to have a split keyboard on the iPad pro. I'm an architect and I use my iPad pro out in the field a lot for existing conditions survey work, my problem is because of the size of the IPad pro, it is difficult to use the keyboard in the field, because the keyboard appears to non longer be able to be split. It is not practical to carry or use the keyboard accessory out side of the office. The split keyboard was a great solution to be able to type information while out of the office and in the field. Is there a hack / update available that will restore the split keyboard functionality to the iPad pro?

This isn't useful or helpful. You still have to set down on a flat surface or forearm a device that you could otherwise type on while standing, holding naturally, with no accessories. This was a killer feature on previous iPads, and now we're supposed to be happy that it was intentionally left out or removed from the single largest version, that is, the iPad on which this feature should have been the most useful.

This is(was) the single most useful productivity feature which Android has not yet matched or exceeded, let's just walk away and forget it without complaint or acknowledgement, relying on a dwindling advantage of exclusive apps to stand in for quality and innovation; because people that rely on these devices for not-correctly-creative work where confusing pencil entries and sitting down aren't an option are not the core customer base. How about no?

So why are shooting the messenger? MichelPM isn't responsibke for Apple not including this feature. Complain to Apple or better yet, send them feedback.

I don't have the iPad Pro, and don't know if that function ever existed on that device. Did you have the split keyboard on the device previously? If you did, go to Settings>General>Keybard>Split Keyboard>On to bring it back.

Because the large iPad Pro can span a nearly full size software keyboard, in landscape mode, Apple didn't include the split keyboard feature in iOS on the large iPad Pro.

Thank you for your response MichelPM. I understand that the feature was removed for iPad pro, however I was hoping that there may be some sort of a hack or an app that would give the user the option to use that feature. When in the field there is not always a surface on which you can place the iPad in order ti input information from your using the keyboard attachment or full screen keyboard, that is why i found the split keyboard feature was so useful, I could continue to hold the device in my hand and type in the information I needed using my thumbs. I just wish apple would give users the option to use that feature in future updates.

Hi. You make a good point. Please send your feedback here https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html. You could look around the app store for a keyboard supporting this feature. I'm using Padkeys, which gives a normal keyboard with a number row, etc. It's good on my 9.7" iPad Air, and would be great on your larger device. But no split mode, sadly.

I sort assumed that was the case and it certainly makes sense, but not having an iPad Pro, I didn't know for sure. Thanks for enlightening me.
