Q: text message killing watch
I've received a text message which either has unsupported unicode or is too large, which crashes the messages app on my iPhone 7. My "solution" for this has been to delete the message from the phone by overriding my date/time by 31 days, my default setting is to keep only 30 days of messages on my phone. This wipes out my history & makes the app functional again.
Unfortunately, the text history is still visible on my apple watch series 2, ever since I received the message the watch has been extremely sluggish & i have no way to kill the app or restore the phone. Numerous power cycles have not had any effect.

Messages need to be deleted separately on your watch. To delete the offending text message:
- Open the Messages app from the Home screen (accessed via a single press of the Digital Crown when viewing the time on your watch) > in the messages list, swipe left on the conversation > tap on Delete / Trash.
