Q: Constant high CPU

I've got a macbook air, one year old. I noticed the fans running high even when I had no programs running, and the activity monitor shows that launchservicesd is constantly using 60-100% of my CPU. I updated to Sierra, did a safe boot, and reset NVRAM and SMC. That fixed the fan problem, but the problem with launchservicesd is still there.
