Finder Crashing.

Hello!

I need help regarding my Finder, it starting crashing since I updated to Sierra.

It continues to crash over and over when I turn my computer on.

Once I try opening after a few times trying I get this message.User uploaded file

It is very strange because If I click on the Finder Icon it crashes but if I go to the spotlight and search for any folder I can actually access my finder windows through spotlight and then it works fine.

I have already tried resetting the SMC, also my SSD is ok and without errors, as well as I deleted all my login Items in case an app is causing this.

When I log through safe mode Finder works without any issues.

Regards.

1. Close Finder if it's open.

2. Open an Applications > Utilities > Terminal window and paste the following commands:

rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.preferences.extensions.FinderSync.plist

3. Then reboot.

Does the problem still exist?

Hello Trevoz, good morning.

First of all thank you for your attention and help.

This has fixed the problem and when I start my computer Finder starts without any hiccups.

I will post again if the problem comes back because it has a tendency to do so, and if not then this was a definitive fix!

May I ask you what was wrong and what did those commands do?

Regards.

That is great if finder will open, mine just crashes.

Here is the history

2007 macbook pro working perfectly. Until about four days ago. I cleaned off extraneous files and sent doc and desktop files to external drives. My finder keeps crashing, cannot get into Finder to go to my applications folder and utilities.

I know how to run utilities if I could just get there. And check my disc which I did about five days ago, it found no problems, but my permissions showed Safari and Finder had repair problem issues I ran repair and that did not work.

My Safari bogged first, so I changed to Firefox, it worked great for two days, and now says it has a problem.

About two days ago the whole thing did not work, regular or safe mode as Finder kept crashing. A I have is a beach ball.

I have done safe mode Command S, and finder crashes, shft option control start, same thing happens , command R, same thing,

I do not have original startup disc, it was a long time ago. This is Maverick and I have kept all the updates going.

I get my desktop picture, my icons, can change from icon to icon but nothing works. When I click on it

I have a backup from April and have kept downloads, desktop and document folders on separate disc drives. I have 60 percent usage and 40% free. So my computer is not overloaded with files. cool sandy.
