Q: Problem with ripping CD's

I just finishing ripping all my CD's to my PC, around 150, using Apple Lossless.  All went well except for 2 CD's.  They both do the same thing.

They start slow on the first track (like all of them do) then spin up to speed.  With these two, however, on the second or third track, the spin rate slows down dramatically.  They continue at this reduced spin rate until they get about 3 tracks from the end, then they stop, and I get the error message 'the required folder cannot be found'.

The tracks ripped prior to the error message are on the PC and play fine.  I just can't complete the rip of these 2 CD's.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

See the "If you have trouble importing songs from an audio CD" section of:

iTunes 12 for Windows: Import songs from CDs

For those two CDs, I would first try cleaning the CD with a soft, lint-free cloth, and then importing the songs again.  Next, if the “Use error correction when reading Audio CDs” checkbox is not selected, select it. If it’s already selected, deselect it.  Finally, try another encoding format.  But I suspect the problem is with those two CDs, since all the others seem to be OK.

Thanks very much for the reply, I agree, I think it's just those two CD's.  I will try your remedies however, I've tried several things but not what you have suggested.

I've tried everything on the link and what you suggested but no success.  I even tried downloading it in WAV instead of Apple Lossless, and they do the same thing.  That's really odd because I previously had them downloaded on a different PC in WAV format.

    Anyway, thanks for the help.

Try CDex or Exact Audio Copy.

Success!  I kept at it and was able to get one to download completely by checking the 'use error correction when reading audio CD's".  The other one still would not complete the download.

I remembered I had an external BluRay writer still in the box that I had never used.  I broke it out, and successfully downloaded the remaining CD.

Sometimes you just have to be more hard-headed then the equipment you are using.

    I appreciate all the help.
