Switching devices in Find My Friends

When I change devices in Find My Friends from my Phone to my Pad mini, my friends see Location not available from the app on their phones. On my phone it shows my location. Is there something not set up right on my iPad or phone to allow the switch?

Hello jeanener,

I see that when you change devices from your iPhone to iPad mini, your friends see Location not available from the app on their iPhones, but on your iPhone it shows your location. I can understand wanting to use the Find my Friends feature on both devices.

Please see article About Find My Friends for help using Find My Friends on more than one device, specifically, this section:

Use Find My Friends on more than one device

You can sign in to Find My Friends and use it from any iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch you own. However, only one iOS device can transmit your location to your followers. You can choose which one to use in Find My Friends:

On an iPhone or iPod touch, tap Me, then tap a device under Share My Location From.

On an iPad, tap the List button, tap Me, tap Info, then tap a device under Share My Location From.

This choice only appears when you're currently signed in to Find My Friends on multiple devices.

Thank you for your response.

We would now suggest that you force close the app on each device, and then reopen and test each device with your friends to see if you get the same result of "Location not available."
