Is it possible to currently upgrade my 500 GB hard drive to a 1 terabyte hard drive?

Visit OWC to see if they have an SSD upgrade kit for your model. I'm pretty sure they do. The kit will include the larger blade SSD used in your computer along with an enclosure for the one you replaced so you can use it as an external disk.
