chinese letters sent to android users

Why does my macbook air send chinese letters in text to my android friends? This is starting to happen more often.

MacBook Air, iOS 10.0.2

Hi,


Do they appear to be Chinese characters at your end or do they arrive as Chinese characters ?


If your Contacts see Chinese Characters when you have sent something else it might be because they don't have the Font you sent the message in.

I have noticed this from Messages to android as well happens sometimes when there is an apostrophe


from Message it change the ' to a ’ automatically.


here is the message I sent that consistently causes it:


doesn’t bother me, i hate plugin in head phones in my phone the cord gets all jacked when ever i turn my head


from OSX Messages:

is received like: (note the special ’ in the 'did it show....' did not cause the Chinese characters)

from the iPhone it looks like: (and works fine)

Hopefully they can get this fixed so I can start using contractions again.


update: That message didn't have a problem when it was sent from someone else Messages. Although they did have a different trigger Message with an ' that caused the error consistently:
