Q: Titles from iPhotos not showing in Photos

Old MBP -> New Early 2015 13" rMBP w/Sierra

Had pics in iPhotos, saved to iCloud in order to transfer to new laptop. When transferring to new Photos program, titles not showing up, they were coming up with titles in iPhotos. The titles are showing up where the image number from original upload used to be located (second line). I know how to retitle them but there are a LOT of pictures (~3000) so I would like to know why this occurred? Is there anything I can do now or in the future to make sure the titles transfer correctly?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12), 13", Early 2015

    Also, any notes or tags I had made in iPhotos did not transfer.

    How did you save in iCloud?  Do you mean you were using iCloud Photo Library or are you using Shared Albums or My Photo Stream?

    If your photos are having titles in Photos, iCloud Photo Library will transfer the titles, but neither My Photo Stream nor Shared albums.

    If the problem is the migration from iPhoto to Photos, not all titles you are seeing in iPhoto will be showing in Photos. The problem is, that iPhoto has been showing the filename sas the default titles, if no titles had been assigned manually.  Photos on the other hand does not use the filenames as default titles. If a photo does not have a title, the title field will remain empty.

    If you want the filenames to be used as titles, you can run an AppleScript to copy the filenames to the title field.

    Script: Batch Changing the Titles to the Filename w/Extension
