Q: Turning on iCloud music library deletes all music from phone
When I turn on iCloud music library on my iPhone 6+ running the current version of ios, even after clicking "Keep Music" 100% of the music on my phone gets deleted and is replaced with whatever it is that Apple thinks my iCloud music library is.
I have several playlists of my own purchased music that have several hundred songs in each of them. When I turn on iCloud music, the playlists are promptly emptied of everything and replaced with between 8 and 20 songs that don't even have anything to do with the original playlists.
I have tried:
- Turning iCloud music library on on my iPhone and in iTunes, same results.
- Turning iCloud music library on on my iPhone and NOT in iTunes, same results.
- Turning iCloud music library on in iTunes and NOT on my iPhone, same results.
Basically it appears that if you have a large library of purchased music already in iTunes, when you turn on iCloud music library the music you own instantly becomes 100% invalid and is replaced by a meager selection representing perhaps 10% of your entire collection of music.
Is there really NO way to download music from Apple Music for off-line play without turning on iCloud music? If not, then I'm cancelling my Apple Music subscription because every time I turn on iCloud music on ANY of my devices it completely destroys my playlists and music library.
iMac, null
