Quickbooks 10 does not run in Sierra

Why was I not alerted to this failure before the installation process began. Shouldn't there be a review of installed apps before the download to alert us to the fact that we may lose some functionality? After 4 hours of waiting and watching the timeline misjudge the time left, I am now unable to continue the use of my Quickbooks for my business. Not happy!

I also am having the same problem. Why are we not notified before updating that we will lose access to our Quickbooks? I have a business to run. How do I retrieve my Quickbooks file? Can it be opened some where?

Before you update the OS on any device you should check the compatibility of your software, Apple are not able to tell if your software is or will be compatible. Roaring Apps is a good starting point to check what is or isn't.

I myself had to wait a week for Logitech to update their mouse drivers to be compatible before I updated to Sierra. There are many developers who still have incompatible apps. Last year I waiting a month before upgrading to El Cap.

With a time machine backup, you could revert. If you had a 'full

system clone' -- you could just restart in the older full macOS X.

Helps before you consider an upgrade to a new mac OS that the

third-party software makers too may be slow on the uptake. And

drivers for third-party devices generally drive people a little nutty.

{My latest Mac OS is 10.9.5; with El Capitan holding in app folder.}

There may be more information or an older version available to

if online versions aren't suitable. -- A QB16 is ready for Sierra.

As some users do not wish to subscribe to monthly fees, to be

able to keep the older software running a little while longer helps.

The retail QB desktop version had been reduced for a limited time;

($200?) I'd read about it a few days ago. Still not inexpensive though.

Sorry that you've found issue with Upgrade to an all new system.

Some of these appear to imply 'Update' but actually are fully new.

Expect the inconvenient - then be surprised - if all goes smoothly. 😉
