Q: iCloud backup useless after Apple ID change

Info:

Let's say I have today an Apple Id 2 which is all the same on all Apple platforms ( iCloud, iTunes, App Store, etc ... ). Some 3 years ago I had an Apple Id 1 for all Apple platforms.

I bought applications, books and music with both Apple Id's. 3 years ago I had to change my Apple Id, because I had to delete the Email address which I used for Apple Id 1. There was NOT ANY PROBLEM to change my Apple Id 1 to Apple Id 2.

Persistent problem making backups in iCloud useless ( what's a pity ) :

Last year I started making iCloud backups of my iPad's and both iPhone's instead of using iTunes on iMac. In meantime I changed twice of iPhone and tried to restore each time the iCloud backup. Turned out a complete mess as it does not work and leaves the iPhone useless with only 1 solution: Connect to iMac and install as new with iTunes.

The problem : During restore of the iCloud backup the installation process requests my password of Apple Id 1, which of course I do not have or remember anymore !!!!!

Thought to create a new Apple Id 3, but then I loose all the music&books&app I bought ... so no solution.

So, now I have to start each time from scratch when I buy a new iDevice !!??

Problem occurred with an iPhone 5 and iPhone SE when restoring from zero.

Is there any solution so that I can start using iCloud backup again ?

iPhone SE, iOS 10.0.2

If you can't remember the password to "Apple ID #1", even after going to https://iforgot.apple.com, then you might want to get in touch with Apple -- Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support

No luck with the iforgot web portal. Apple ID 1 is not known anymore by Apple.

So, I will have to get in touch with Apple support. Thanks.

Thanks, Zinacef. Surely you helped me and I got in touch with Apple account security. It is quite complicated stuff and simple at the same time. But Apple does have a problem when you change of  Apple Id. I'll give a clue in a reply to my own original discussion

Following the advices of @zinacef I tried to recover my Apple Id 1 of some 5 years ago. No luck: Apple Id unknown for Apple. Then I called the Apple account security helpdesk, which is for me located in Ireland. Very good service, I have to admit, in English or Spanish, this is Europe .. all different languages.

It took 3 quarters of an hour with assistance of several Apple departments and the explanation goes as follows. Whatever you buy in Apple Store, iTunes, iBooks, it is associated to the Apple Id which is at that time valid. For me it means I have applications related to Apple Id 1 (old) and Apple Id 2 (current). For music or books there is NO problem as you can always re-download. For backup/restore via iCloud it is different !!!!

Apple could NOT recover my old Apple Id 1, because my email address was invalid and not existing anymore. I was one of the first Googlemail.com users and this domain is now NOT valid. Nevertheless, Apple did found out that my current Apple Id 2 was associated with the Apple Id 1 ( googlemail ) in 1 account. So normally there shouldn't be any problem anymore. I did a rename of my old Apple Id to the new one, not a delete and create new Apple ID. We couldn't test if it worked or not now.

Finally, Apple advised me to use iTunes via iMac to make backups, because these backups are full backups. I mean, the iCloud backup is just a list of settings, a list of music but without contents, a list of applications but without application itself. When you restore from iCloud it consults these lists and start a download from the contents ( music, app's ) from iTunes and Apple Store. Having there your old Apple Id assigned to the application to download will probably cause problems requesting the old password of that old Apple Id .... Big problem.

I don't know if I explained myself well, but Apple gave the advice to do backups via iTunes and iMac.

Thanks for the update.  I have to start of by saying that's so wrong on so many levels but I'll just leave it there for fear of inciting a riot here.
