Q: Can't find my MacBook Pro files on other devices

Hello Apple community,

I bought more storage for my icloud. I set up an icloud email. My objective is to be able to access my files anywhere I want. I just checked, and it looks like I can only find the documents that I created on my ipad. I can't find the ones that are on my Macbook Pro which contain thousands of files. I made sure that my icloud Drive is ON on all my devices. I don't understand why I can't find my Macbook Pro documents when I log on Windows or my ipad.

I would appreciate any help

MacBook Pro: El Capitan, Latest version 10.11.6

You need Sierra and then add your Desktop and Documents per the link in my previous post.
You might not have seen that link since I edited my reply to add it.

Thank you Illaass for your replies. The problem is that when I click on Options in iCloud, I don't see desktop or documents, I only see Pages and some other apps . Those are not important to me. Most of the important documents that I want to use in other devices are Pdf files or Word documents. It seems to me that I bought more icloud space for nothing.
