Q: I cannot minimize my window if I am in fullscreen

the yellow button disappears, and the keyboard shortcut command-m only works if I am not in fullscreen mode. The yellow button is only usable and visible if I am not in fullscreen. Does anybody know how to fix this? I've tried restarting and updating but both have done nothing to help the issue.

Try the Control + Command + F keyboard shortcut.

To coin a phrase: It is working as expected.

Fullscreen mode is meant to mimic the iPhone and iPad in which one app totally takes up the screen real estate. It really makes no sense to minimize a window in Full Screen - either an application is in Full Screen or it isn't. To minimize a full screen app you first need to exit Full Screen mode by clicking on the green button (which is what Carolyn's keyboard shortcut does). Now you can minimize the window.
