Q: Deleted lots of pics off Mac, but they still appear on iPhone. What's the best way to sync the two?

Hi all,

I was doing a general perge of superfluous information on my Mac yesterday, which included deleting lots of photos and videos from Photos for Mac.

Unfortunately, I just realised that many of the photos I deleted on my Mac are still on my iPhone, as well as many addition photos and video. I don't want to have a situation where I to have to delete them from my Mac, incase it starts syncing with my phone, when it's plugged in.

Either way, what I'd really like to do, is ensure that the same content is on both my Mac and my Phone, without having to re-delete all the pics that I already deleted.

Can anyone suggest the best course of action to do this?

Thanks.

Not without details - what Mac OS version and iPhoto version do you have? What version of IOS do you have?

Nope - check yoru profile - nothing at all about your Mac OS

Unless you use iCloud Photo Library you can not sync identical libraries - if you use ICPL then both libraries will be kept identical and every deletionn, addition and edit will be synced

Other than that it is a manual process either by using iTunes Sync, deleting using Image Capture or deleting on the phone

OK, well I just subscribed to iCloud Photo Library. How do I go about merging both libraries?

Once that's done, I'd like to go through my photos, delete the ones I don't want, then back that "pruned" library up to my computer and end my iCPL subscription. What would be the best way to do this?

    Thanks advance.

see this user tip on merging Photos libraries  --  Notes on Merging Photos Libraries

As long as you have download originals to this computer set then as soon as you have a merged library you like you can runt ICPL off and deop your storage down to the free 5GB
