How to Delete audio attachment in Messages iOS 10

I cannot find a way to delete an audio attachment in a received Message. Is it possible? I do not want to delete the entire conversation.

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.0.2

I am referring to a voicemail file that was sent to me as an attachment in Messages. It does not auto delete. And I can't find a way to delete it manually,.

I can see from your post that you're trying to delete audio messages received in an iMessage but want to retain the remaining conversation. I'd be happy to show you how to manage these messages the way that works best for you. As it turns out, these messages should delete after two minutes. More information can be found if you click the link below.

Send photo, video, or audio messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Send audio messages

In a message conversation, touch and hold to record an audio message.

To preview your message, tap . To cancel, tap . To send, tap .

To play an audio message, tap the message. To save an audio message, tap Keep underneath the message.

The Messages app deletes audio messages after 2 minutes. To keep your audio messages longer, go to Settings > Messages. Scroll down and tap Expire under Audio Messages, then select After 2 Minutes or Never.

When I click the i and find the attachment, tapping and holding does not reveal a copy, delete or move menu. So your suggestion does not work for me.

Hey Michael Erb1,

Thanks for replying with those details. The steps to remove this are in the following steps below.
1. Open the conversation that you want to delete the attachment from
2. Tap “ i ” in the chat view to reveal the Details screen.
3. You can see the attachments exchanged in this chat under the attachments tab , like PDFs, Audio files, or any other files.
4. From there can tap and hold the attachment you want to remove and the option to (Copy, Delete, More...) will appear to allow you to delete it and retain the remainder of the conversation.
