Oct 10, 2016 8:04 PM in response to Xu.Xuby LarryHN,To get help you have to provide details first
What version of the OS and of Photos? Exactly how did you move your library to the EHD? What format is the EHD and how is it connected?

Oct 11, 2016 6:12 AM in response to Xu.Xuby LarryHN,that is not going to work at all - the Photos library must be on a locally connected drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) using a fast wired connection (like FireWire, ThunderBolt or USB) that is always available prior to Photos being launched and that is not used as a TimeMachine backup voumn
The Photos library can not be used on an exFFAT formatted drive
You need to erase adn reformat the drive or use a different drive

Oct 11, 2016 9:20 AM in response to LarryHNby Xu.Xu,Believe it or not, the problem was solved after I updated my OS to MacOS Sierra version 10.12. I can access all photos the same way I used to do. But whenever I tried to eject the portable ssd, it tells me some other program may be using it. So I had to force eject it. Then when I reconnected it, it always gave me the error message:Disk not ejected properly.
