Q: Boot Camp W10 pro stuck in "Critical_Stop_Error" reboot cycle

Hi,

I just successfully loaded W10 Pro on my iMac. I was able to get through past Key code registration and hit the first reboot. I get a windows logo, then the spinning circles (loading),  then sadly a blue screen error (Critical_Stop_Error) and a constant reboot cycle.  Everything was going according to instruction until this point.  I feel like this is windows not seeing proper drivers.

I did have to reset my NVRAM to allow the computer to select the bootcamp partition for the load.

I remember seeing someone on the forums who has same computer that was never able to resolve. I cannot find the post. I am hoping there may be someone out there who can help me through this. I am so close...yet so far.

Remove the current Windows installation using BC Assistant. Reset SMC and NVRAM with all external peripherals (except Keyboard/Mouse) disconnected. Disconnect all network connections, connect the USB installer, run BCA, choose the last option - Install and report any errors. Do not connect to any network till you have created a Windows System Restore point.

I removed the Windows Partition using BCA. I reset the SMC and NVRAM with everything removed except my mouse. I connected the USB Installer ran BCA chose the last option. Windows installed and Windows asked for key code. I entered the key code and the installation complted. Upon first reboot I get the same error:

    STOP CODE: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED

If you get a BSoD, can you post a screen shot/photo of the error?

Also, where did the Windows Installer software come from? Can you try downloading an ISO from Microsoft.com windows10ISO over a wired connection and rebuild the Bootcamp/Windows USB Installer and test?

It came directly from the exact Microsoft link you listed. I am running the English only ISO. This was supplied (the link) upon purchase of the OS. I will go ahead and give everything a GO again.

I have in fact already done the exact thing you have instructed. I completely re-formated the USB flash drive and built the installer using the BCA tool. The ISO has been saved to my desktop, and also I have tried it from the downloads folder. The ISO of course was linked to the tool as instructed.

Give me about 30 and I will report back.

yes.  Here is the ISO version:

    WIN10_1607_English_x64.iso

So, i'm getting the exact same result here. Critical Stop: Critical_Process_Died and endless reboots.

You have a 3TB Fusion drive. After the error message, before you delete and cleanup the BC partition, can you post the output of

    diskutil list

    diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk1

Is it possible to try a USB2.0 flash drive?

Are you on Sierra? Please post the output of

    sudo fdisk /dev/disk1

This specific partitioning does not work, if you have an MBR. MBRs have limitations, one of which is that a disk larger than 2TB is not supported properly.

    Another Update.

I split the Drive evenly this time.  1.5 TB / 1.5 TB Same Error.

I created a USB 2.0 version of the tool. Same Error

Of course completely starting from scratch each time SCM, NVRAM resets BCA used to completely re-create the tool and partition the drive.
