Q: Boot Camp W10 pro stuck in "Critical_Stop_Error" reboot cycle

Hi,

I just successfully loaded W10 Pro on my iMac. I was able to get through past Key code registration and hit the first reboot. I get a windows logo, then the spinning circles (loading),  then sadly a blue screen error (Critical_Stop_Error) and a constant reboot cycle.  Everything was going according to instruction until this point.  I feel like this is windows not seeing proper drivers.

I did have to reset my NVRAM to allow the computer to select the bootcamp partition for the load.

I remember seeing someone on the forums who has same computer that was never able to resolve. I cannot find the post. I am hoping there may be someone out there who can help me through this. I am so close...yet so far.

Computer Specs:

iMac Retina 5k, 27-inch, Late 2014

4ghz i7

32 GB 1600mhz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9M295x 4096MB

128GB SSD

3TB drive SATA HD

Bootcamp

Version 6.0.1 (6024.40.2)

Windows Partition Size:

355 GB

Loaded using

Lexar 32GB USB3.0 flash drive

    Yeah its not working.

    I'm thinking about making a bartPE USB and manually loading the drivers for the hardware and trying to build a drive that way.

    Anyway, what do I need to do to get my entire hard drive back to a stock configuration again?

    Thanks

    If you have a TM backup, boot into Internet Recovery and erase both drives, and let DU rebuild the Fusion drive. Restore from TM after the drive is complete.

    By both you mean:

    OS X Base System

    OSX -Macintosh-LVG

    I am assuming. Correct?

    I wanted to take a minute and say thanks for the crack at this. I'm not the only one with this issue. It seems this 3TB Fusion 5k definitely has  others experiencing the same thing.

    You will need to erase the SSD/HDD , which part of the Fusion drive. The OS X Base System is part of Internet Recovery and cannot be erased.

    Will all those partitions merge again?

    DU should recreate the Fusion drive.

    I don't think it is recreating it. I still have all those parts. It won't let me merge any of the partitions.

    Its kind of a disaster after I erased  the remainder and  untitled drives.

    I have:

    OSX-Macintosh-LVG

    The sizes are:

    Macintosh HD = 1.18 TB

    disk1s4 = 314.6 mb

    disk2s6 = 134.2 mb

    Untitled = 499.31 GB

    From the steps that we used to rebuild the Fusion drive, in Internet Recovery, erase the SSD and HDD, and quit Terminal, and then run DU and check if it rebuilds the Fusion drive.

    I get to step 5 and it says it cannot unmount. I'll print my CS list.

    1. Boot into Internet Recovery (not Local Recovery) using Command+Opt+R.

    2. Erase the Macintosh HD Logical Volume - diskutil cs deleteVolume 3B6D8EE3-A964-4DA8-A0E1-AFECFC278A63

    3. Erase the Macintosh HD Logical Volume group - diskutil cs delete 8BBC430C-6AE0-44C9-BBEC-CA7BDC3037E3

    4. Erase the the SSD part of the Fusion drive - diskutil eraseDisk jhfs+ SSD disk0

    5. Erase the HDD part of the Fusion drive - diskutil eraseDisk jhfs+ HDD disk1 (Please ensure disk1 is your HDD)

    6. Re-create the CS LVG - diskutil cs create OSX-Macintosh-LVG disk0s2 disk1s2 (please ensure the SSD disk is first, otherwise you will have bad performance).

    7. Re-create the CS LV - diskutil cs createVolume TheLongStringFromStep6 jhfs+ "Macintosh HD" 100%

    8. Restore OSX from TM Backup.

    9. Retry your Windows installation using BC Assistant.

    You have ended up with two CS LVG/LV combinations. Let us clean it up. In Internet Recovery

    diskutil cs deleteVolume A1462212-486C-4C8A-A4F9-2FA0B9378F38

    diskutil cs delete 3E24D24F-C100-4346-AB23-3994385092C0

    diskutil cs deleteVolume 84193D12-D396-4ED9-B61E-EB81C315DE01

    diskutil cs delete 178C395C-29A6-4780-A841-585C867B2781

    Now check the output of diskutil cs list. If you do not see any CS LV/LVG, then erase the SSD and HDD and let DU rebuild the Fusion drive.
