Q: Nudging Apple Watch in Nightstand Mode Won't Wake Display

I noticed this behaviour after updating to watchOS 3.0 - the display will not wake while in nightstand mode unless I tap the screen directly. Before updating, it would wake if I so much as nudged the furniture it was on.

I have already reset the watch to factory settings and set it up as a new device (not from backup) and the issue persists.

Has anyone else noticed this issue with their own Watch?

Given the steps that you have already tried, I suggest that you contact Apple Support or make a Genius Bar reservation for assistance, explaining that the issue appears to have arisen in conjunction with updating to watchOS 3:

Try restarting your  Watch. Press and hold both the Digital Crown and the Side Button until the Apple logo appears on the  Watch.

My  Watch display will wake with the slightest tap on the nightstand it is on as long as the watch is sideways with the Digital Crown on top.
