iPhone 6 ringer mute switch / button not working

I am having an iPhone 6 and the mute switch at the side of the phone is not working properly. Whenever I switch it ON, it doesnt mute my phone and still in unmute mode. While mute button is switched ON, my phone keeps switching between mute and unmute modes multiple times. Seems that there is some glitch with the switch. I am finding it difficult to mute my phone easily when required. Instead I have to try other workarounds it seems. Can apple care provide some solution to this issue?

You should take your iPhone to the Apple store for a diagnostic, as it seems to be a hardware issue.

If the volume buttons, Ring/Silent switch, or Side Switch aren't working

On an iPhone, the volume buttons and Ring/Silent switch are on the left side of the device. The buttons on other iPhone models are similar. On an iPad, the volume buttons and Side Switch are on the right side of the device.

If any of these buttons or switches aren't working, follow these steps. After each step, see if you still need help:

Unlock your device. Some buttons don't work from the Lock screen.
Check for debris or dirt around the button or switch and clean it with a soft cloth.
Remove all protective films and cases that might interfere with the button or switch.
