magnets holding iphone 5s

Thinking of purchasing a devise that will attach my iPhone 5s to A/C vent. It requires a magnet to hold the iPhone. I read recently that the magnet might negatively affect the iPhone. Reactions?

Depends entirely how strong the magnet is. Any magnetic field strong enough will interfere with radio transmissions. An iPhone is just a two way radio - the cellular phone function, wifi and BT are all just radios. So yes, there is the potential that a strong magnet will interfere with function. Weak magnets are usually not a problem (the ones used in magnetic case covers and flip cases and such), so it comes down to how big and how strong the magnet is.

There are non-magnetic car vent holders - e.g. http://www.proclipusa.com/
