Macbook pro 15 inch mid 2010 GPU Panic

I have a mid 2010 macbook pro with the known "GPU Panic" problem.

There was a replacement program for this problem but the MAC reseller (Switch) refused to register the laptop form main board replacement because they couldn't reproduce the GPU Panic. (tried to register the laptop 3 times for replacement in 2015 and 2016)

After upgrading to MacOS Sierra the GPU panics repeat every 2 minutes which makes the device useless.

Switch told me the replacement program was extended until december 2016, but all of a sudden parts were out of stock, they point to Apple, Apple points to Switch.

Who can tell me the real end date of the replacement program and who can help me?

MacBook Pro, iOS 10

You have the misfortune of having a model identifier 6.2 MBP that is experiencing GPU problems. There was a replacement program on these models but that has expired.

You can have the logic board replaced, but that will be at your expense.

You may download this application as an interim measure:

https://gfx.io/

This will allow you to disengage the discrete GPU and use only the integrated one. This will stop the kernel panics but at the expense of graphics performance.

Ciao..

This is indeed exact the same problem as here (GPU Panic - OSX 10.9 Mavericks - Macbook PRO 6,2)

I knew my laptop was having this problem and reported it to Switch (Belgium - Hasselt) but they told me they couldn't reproduce the problem and that I could have my motherboard replaced by the extended program until december 2016.

When I registered the laptop last month they coldly said that the program has ended and there was nothing else to do. Even no sorry for misleading information at first hand.

I've tried the GFX.io but the graphics card keeps switching to the GPU when using Chrome.

Until now I don't know when the replacement program exactly ended...

I do not know exactly when the replacement program ended for the model identifier 6,2 MBPs but it was well over a year ago. There is a current replacement program for 2011 MBPs and 2012/2013 retina MBPs that ends this year. Perhaps this is why you may have been misinformed.

Try this older version of the GFX software:

https://software.com/mac/apps/gfxcardstatus/1.8.1

Also try other browsers. Perhaps that will make a difference.

Ciao.
