Are you using Apple's Mail application to attempt to read your mail?

Have you considered deleting and re-adding your AOL account?  Use System Preferences > Internet Accounts if you choose to do this.  AOL is one of the account types recognized on the right side of this screen, so the account can be added with the pre-canned correct information filled in for you.

    Hi

No not using Apple's mail, I'm using Aol.

If I delete and re add my account would I loose all my old emails saved in my Aol account?

I'm confused, because if you are not using Apple's Mail (which I strongly recommend), you probably have not added your account at System Preferences > Internet Accounts.  Are you certain you have created this account?
