Q: Photos hangs since maxOS Sierra Update

After an update to macOS, Photos stated to update files and then errored (I do not recall the error) and now whenever I start Photos I get a while application screen, no photos, and constant clocking.  I am guessing that something is wrong with indexing or other application files and needs a reset.....  Any idea (certainly don't want to lose any photos).

Photos must quit because the photo library has become unavailable or its data is corrupt.

Where is your Photos Library stored?  Is it in the default location, your Pictures folder, or on an external drive? If external drive, is the drive locally mounted or a remote volume?  Are you sharing the library with another user account?

OR did you run any duplicate detection or cleaning software to save space?
