Thanks for being a part of Apple Support Communities.
I understand that the Music app on your iPhone is becoming unresponsive when you scroll through a list of songs. I'm not sure what exact troubleshooting you've done already, so if you haven't, please force the Music app to close, and then restart your iPhone:
Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue persists, then please provide us some more information on where the music came from, i.e. Apple Music, purchased from iTunes, ripped from CD and synced.
Cheers. -
Oct 12, 2016 11:45 AM in response to norm123by toddec,I've done both actions. I've also copied the playlist to a new one and deleted the old one, to no avail. The playlist contains a blend of purchased and ripped content. I play everything through iCloud.
It also occurs with smaller playlists whose contents do not overlap with the large playlist. In those cases, merely clicking on the playlist will cause the app to close.

Thanks for clarifying the issue. Next, we'd like you to please turn off iCloud Music Library, restart your iPhone, and turn iCloud Music Library back on. We do want to let you know that turning off iCloud Music Library will remove any music you've downloaded for offline listening.
- Go to Settings > Music.
- Turn off iCloud Music Library.
- Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
- Go to Settings > Music.
- Turn on iCloud Music Library.
