Stop triggering emergency call on Apple Watch

Does anyone know how to stop the emergency call function (SOS) from triggering? That is to switch the darn thing off. I had an unfortunate incident where I was participating in a cycling event and the emergency call function was triggered somehow. It did it twice. The first time I managed to cancelled it, the second time it CALLED THE EMERGENCY service. Resulting in my trying to talk to the operator on the back of my bike trying to reassure the operator that it was my stupid watch that call them and not me. It happened again today when I rode to work. Luck it only got to the call screen and didn't call the emergency services!

I have the first version of the apple watch (sport) running the latest Watch OS!

Can anyone help.

Hi

It is not presently possible to completely disable the Emergency SOS feature.

To turn off the "hold to auto call" function (which calls the emergency services if you press and keep holding the side button):

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > General > Emergency SOS - turn off Hold to Auto Call.

try to change the orientation of the Watch.

I was triggering emergency calls almost every day until I change the orientation.

Take me some time to get used to it.

It is somewhat odd to have the Digital Crown and the menu button on the "other" side

But works! (For me at least)
