Q: Rower activity calories not right
I have found overall the calorie count on the apple watch is fairly accurate. I do a lot of cycling and the calories are always pretty similar between my garmin & my apple watch. Likewise I have a Wattbike and use trainer road/wattbike hub etc, and again the calorie count on the monitors is very similar to that on the apple watch.
What has me confused is why on a rowing machine is the calorie count on the apple watch so wrong?...my erg screen tells me I am doing about 600 calories on a 10k metre row @ a pace of 2.00 mins per 500mtrs, heart rate avg of 140bpm..takes me say 40 mins...so I know its a pretty high burn so 500 active calories would be ball park I reckon & in line with the cycling etc intensity wise
Apple watch always comes out at about 350 active calories, which seems way too low for the intensity & time spent rowing..it should be 500 up, as it reports on the Concept 2 , erg PM4
why when it is so accurate with everything else is the rowing calories on the watch so wrong?...
