Q: Mail is using too much memory

iPhone 5S with iOS 9.3.5

Usage states that mail is using 1.7 gig of memory. I have deleted everything in the trash, sent, archive and all other folders except for 5 small emails. Usage still reports 1.7 gig being used. How is that possible? I only have 1 email account and my iPad reports only 50 meg of usage. Why the difference? I need help getting my memory back!

It may be stuff stuck on the server side. Have you tried logging out of your iCloud account, wait a few, and log back in? I don't usually use Mail so I can't say for sure.
