Q: My texts are sent in English arrive in Chinese

I recently updated my iPhone 6 to IOS 10.0.2.  Since then, I've had 2 people tell me that my texts that were typed in English are arriving on their end in Chinese (or something that looks like Chinese).

One user has a Moto phone, the other a Samsung Galaxy.   I do text successfully to other non-Iphone users, at least to my knowledge.

I've checked the default language on my phone and it is English.

Any suggestions on what could be the cause and solution to this weird problem?  Thanks!

I too am having this issue, which began on 10/7/16 for me. I texted and used two emoticons at the end. The emoticons appeared, but the rest of the text was in squares and rectangles. I am unaware of her carrier, but I do know she doesn't have an iPhone. Last night I texted my daughter back, whom I am on the same AT&T account with. She does not have an iPhone. One text was fine, the other where I had used emoticons, was greek to her! (She sent me a screenshot which looked similar to the previous example.) I will discontinue the emoticons, until this issue is resolved. Thank you~

My messages did NOT include emoticons, just for the record on this thread, so I don't think thats the issue.
