Q: iPhone 5s iOS 10.0.2 - sound and other issues
Since updating my iPhone 5s to iOS 10.0.2, I have run into many issues.
1. Sounds & Notifications
I usually have my phone set to vibrate only, but occasionally turn on my ringer. I noticed one night that my phone did not ring when I received a call - my side switch was set properly. I went into my sound settings and tried sampling a ringtone - none of them would produce sound. I turned my phone off and back on again, and the sound worked. A few days later I had to repeat this process because my ringtones would no longer play.
Today, I unlocked my phone numerous times and did not have any text notifications. I went to send a text message and saw that I had 4 unread texts from over 8 hours ago. After I sent my text, I went back to my home screen. A few minutes later I checked my texts, and sure enough there was a new one - I got NO notification, not even a vibration. If I get the text while the app is still open and I am actively on that person's text, it will vibrate (super helpful, Apple).
2. Battery & Reset
After experiencing the above issues, I decided to reset my phone by holding the home and lock buttons. I accidentally took a screenshot of my home screen, and am glad I did. First, when I was resetting, the "Slide to turn off" screen briefly appeared, followed by a blue screen (which I have never seen on my phone). It then turned off as usual. Second, when my phone turned back on I had 41% battery - the screenshot I took before resetting shows 91% battery. Somehow, resetting my phone drained 50% of my battery. A few seconds later, I got a "low battery" pop up and my battery was now at 4%! I quickly took a screenshot and plugged it in, which made it jump to 27%.
3. USB & Bluetooth
I replied to another user's thread (issues with playing audio via USB and/or Bluetooth) with the below:
I, too, have this issue with my iPhone 5s.
The odd thing is that my bluetooth connection never used to show details (title, artist, etc.) - I could only see that information when connecting via USB. Now it is the complete opposite - my USB connection only shows "iPod", I cannot go through my playlists that are saved in my phone, and Pandora no longer auto-plays. To play music via my USB, I need to start the music on my phone, then plug it in - 8 out of 10 times the audio will start playing through my car and the rest of the time I have to connect Bluetooth (which is a pain in my car because it doesn't auto-connect).
I am not sure what is going on with this latest update, but it appears that many people are having issues. I can't find anyone else experiencing my exact issues so I decided to make a new post asking for help. I do not want to factory reset my phone, and hope that Apple releases a fix soon for this buggy software.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
