listening on another device

I recently joined apple music - i've had itunes for years but have just recently made the switch. Generally, it's not very stable and constantly drops out (compared to Spotify, which I also use). Most annoyingly, very frequently - today 2 or 3 times per track, music stops playing and a message appears telling me 'It looks like you're listening on another device' - I am not listening on another device, and no one else is using my account. This is intensely frustrating. Help!

August 2017... I'm having this exact issue as well.. I've de-authorized all devices, reauthorized only one PC, and still am told I'm listening on other devices.. No mobile devices with the account.. No other device is playing but mine and that stupid message appears every 15 minutes on average..


At the same time, I have 1x iPhone, 1x Macbook Pro, and 1x Windows10 PC all running under my main account without any issue. I switch between devices constantly throughout the day and am not told once that i cant listen because I'm on a different device.


Both accounts mentioned are all apart of different family accounts.This is beyond frustrating.

We are having the exact same problem!

Every 10-15 minutes it says looks like your listening on another device etc...we have a family account and use itunes on mac and pc (windows 10) its doing it on all the accounts associated with the family..its mind bendingly annoying!

Plus itunes is pausing on every single account randomly every song..

Obviously a wide spread problem but apple arent doing anything about it..

I've been having the same problem myself all August, with "listening on another device" popping up. I am glad to see I am not alone. Same 1-2+ per hour - I listen to music while at work and the random starts and stops are rather disruptive. I am also on a family account with an individual apple id that I am positive no one else is using. I am not dealing with stability issues - I usually download the playlists - but Spotify despite the ads is much more consistent - might have to switch back.
