The problem with the keyboard position in the search mode to the unlocked screen.

This happens when you first start the search immediately after unlocking. If you rotate the device to rotate the image, the keyboard is displayed normally.

iPad Air 2, iOS 10.0.2

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with the keyboard orientation is not what you expect. Based on what you stated, it seems you may be experiencing the keyboard not being in the correct orientation after waking the iPad and unlocking the screen. I would check if the orientation lock is enabled, as this article describes:

I would also suggest you restart your device as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly:
