iTunes sync pauses when PC is locked

I stepped away from my PC while my iPhone 7 was downloading my music library from the iTunes on my PC. Hours later I came back, and the screen was locked. It wasn't logged out, asleep or hibernating. After signing back in, iTunes was still on the same song upload and began uploading again. How do I let the iPhone synchronize while away and still lock my PC?
