Q: iTunes blows all this away when I add photos to my library and I have to do it again.

If I add a new directory of images (I'm on a PC) to the directory that iTunes is sending to the phone (iOS10.0.2) it will usually "refresh" directories of images (thousands of them) that I haven't changed. This causes all the identification and merging of faces I have done to be completely lost.

This pretty much makes the feature useless since it can take hours to completely organize everything (I have about 20,000) photos being synced.

This seems like a bug to me and if the information about the organization I have done is really this fleeting and easy to destroy there's no way anybody's going to use the feature regularly.

iPhone 7, iOS 10.0.2

    Hi JonB66,

If you've syncing images from a folder on your Windows computer and iTunes syncs the entirety of the selected folder every time you modify their contents, there may be an issue with the Photo Cache that iTunes has created. Deleting this folder (called 'iPod Photo Cache' if you're syncing with an iOS device) will cause iTunes to recreate the cache, which will cause the sync to appear to take longer than normal, but should speed up future photo syncing.
    1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
    2. Click the magnifying glass icon, or click in the search field.
    3. Type "iPod Photo Cache" or "Apple TV Photo Cache," then press Return.
    4. To remove the folder, drag it to the trash.

    Sincerely.
