Error 52

My iPhone 5 not 5s was reset to factory following apple's instructions. When I went to set-up the phone I received an error 1314 and then it required me to update to IOS 9. I followed those instructions and received error 53. I was instructed to attached it to my iTunes via USB, I did, at this point, I received error 52. I tried again and received error 3194. I performed the steps as listed in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201442. Again I received Error 52. I took the phone to the Genius Bar and they did nothing different then what I did and they received error 52. They said my phone was no good and they would gladly sell me a new one. The phone was working perfectly prior to the forced IOS 9 upgrade. Has anyone else experienced something like this and have you found a fix?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.0.1, current v of IOS 9 at the time

Goody for you.

Apple told you what your options are. They do not do board or component level repairs on iPhones. They replace them. If that's not acceptable, find a 3rd party repair shop and take your chances with them.

Otherwise, there is nothing anyone here can do or say about it.

I don't work for Apple. NO ONE here works for Apple.

Error 52 does not appear in the list of iTunes update/restore errors. Get help with iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support

The closest I could find was a Windows error 52 regarding iTunes. See if this helps you. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/error-code-5 2-usb-ports-not-recognizing-connected/23…

What do you mean Apple is not helping? You have contacted them? What did they say?

There was and is no hardware issue. The phone has never been repaired. The only one that has worked on the phone is Apple. The phone has been reset twice before with no issues. It was working up until the forced upgrade to IOS 9. This has happened to me and tens of thousands of other people. Not just the iPhone but iPads as well. It is documented in the support community that Apple admitted causing the issue starting with error 53. Error 53 bricked the phones and the error 52 is the results of the error 53 on an iPhone 5. Please don't defend Apple's firmware mistake, Please fix our phones. I am a high-performance computer engineer and can see an issue caused by a firmware upgrade, this one is blatantly obvious. I have seen many firmware errors causing bricked Mother Boards (MB). The nice thing about the MB issue is the manufacture's stand behind their upgrades and either repaired or replaced the MB's at no expense. The MB's cost far less than an iPhone to replace but they care about their customers more than the few minutes it to fix the issue. Happy customers mean more sales, Unhappy customers could mean lower or no sales, the decline in sales and apple stock bear this out. I do find it strange that they can offer a fix for the 5s and you can't do the same for the 5. The Apple engineering group have an EEPROM programmer that can easily fix the phones in 60 seconds or less. No chip desoldering or replacement necessary. If apple were to stand behind its products they might see sales go up. It would be nice if they did this as I am a stock holder myself. Please elevate this to the top of customer relations.

I don't know who you think you are, apparently, you have no real skill when it comes to electronics. I have been working with electronics since childhood. I have been in the technology industry since 1985 and have a computer science degree.

As to your response, Apple has not given an answer. They have given the same canned response they have given tens of thousands of people experianceing the same issue. My question is do you work for apple? if so what is your position in the company? and Who is your supervisor? If you don't work for Apple Please do not respond anymore.

Let someone else that has experienced the issue respond.

Does anyone else have an educated response to my question? I am looking for answers, not arguments.

On the error 52, I have found that it is a firmware issue not a hardware issue.

It is a NAND flash issue, yes essentially a hardware failure, I too have had the same problem with iPhone 6. It is the same problem that occurs when you use a flash drive to many time, not reading files but writing them, eventually the drive wears out, and goes into a RAW state. Or locks into read only node. Because the ios bootloader is in a different memory area of the device, it is not effected. Because the NAND no longer contains any operating system the device is stuck in a boot loop, trying to find the boot partition, but it can't so it puts the device into hardware recovery mode in attempt to restore it from iTunes. This will fail when you try to restore. Because it can only copy the data to the RAM, but not the NAND, the data cable goes onto the phone in two stages, first the data is extracted from iTunes, then it is copied to the RAM, which creates a RAM DISK, like live Linux os, then it gets copied to the flash memory.
