Q: iTunes keeps Deleting my Music

So this has been going on for the past two months, and I'm starting to get fed up. I'll go to listen to music on my phone, only to find out that any number of songs has been deleted from it, from 5 to 26 songs so far, and it's been happening a lot more frequently since getting ios 10. I had my music back for 2 days until it happened again. If I'm home when I find this out, I can just re-download it to my phone from my Macbook, but I usually find out when I'm not home and I can't get it back without getting data fees. Is there any way to turn this off? Today when I realized this happened, I tried to re-download it since I was on wifi, and I was told that the only way I could listen to it was getting the Apple Music free trial for 3 months, which I am not doing. The weirdest part of all is that it stays on my laptop the whole time, and only my phone is acting up. Does anyone know how to stop this? The only reason why I've ever noticed this was because the numbers on the side didn't match up and would go from 1 to 12 or 24 to 36.

    Are you currently using, or have you used in the past, any iCloud services such as Apple Music or Match?  If you have then it is possible you were simply streaming music and it was never on your phone. Even if it was, the phone is designed to sync with iCloud when using those services and doing something on one device can affect what happens on others.

    No, I've never used either of those services before, but it keeps saying my apple music account has expired, even though I've never used the free trial and have it turned off in settings. Thank you for your help though:)
