Q: Headphone jack only plays in stereo when phone is held upright

When I listen to audio on my phone, only one track (as in stereo) plays, while listening to mastodon it only plays the rhythm guitar unless my phone is upright. I know the issue isn't my headphones, because they work on my laptop.

iPhone SE, iOS 10.0.2

    In theory it could still could be a problem with your headphones because iPhones have 4 segment jacks vs. the 3 on standard 3.5mm jacks.  Therefore there's a chance there's a slight misalignment happening.  If you have headphones with a mic/vol control that support iPhones then maybe your phone's jack is actually damaged.
