Q: safari Preferences Not Opening
Hi All,
I cannot get Safari Preferences to open - when I click on this option I get the spinning coloured wheel and nothing happens. I have to force quit to get out of it. I'm using a Mac 27 Yosemite 10.10.5 and Safari 10.0
I've tried to delete the Library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist from the go Folder option - and then restarting - which was some advice I found here - but doesn't seem to work.
I need to access this area as I need to change some security settings to run an Auskey update. Also want to change my home page away from popping up with Yahoo search engine ???
Any ideas?
Cheers
Andy

Might be a corrupt .plist.
Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
