macOS freezes when attempting to print

Whenever I try to print in any application in macOS Sierra, the application I am trying to print from freezes, stops responding, and has to be force quit. I've tried restarting, same deal. Any thoughts? I'm running an early 2011 13" MacBook Pro with the i7 processor. I have upgraded the RAM to 16GB and the HDD to 1TB. I have no lag running multiple graphics/photo editing/video editing/productivity programs at the same time, but the app trying to print will freeze even if it is the only one running.

OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), 1TB HDD, 16GB RAM, 2.7GHz i7

Hey,

I don't know if you managed to fix the problem yet. I had the same problem and what was weird was that in system preferences I couldn't find any registered printers either.

I ended up just re-installing the software for my printer and adding it as a new printer in system preferences. As soon as I did that all the other printer systems I had before magically re-appeared. Makes no sense to me but it worked.

Hope that helps.
