Q: Macbook
Hello Community,
I have a Macbook AIR from mid 2012 with 1.8 ghz intel core i5, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
I'm connected to a Thunderbolt Display.
I have 250 GB Flash storage on the internal drive (197 GB used, and 53 GB available) and lots of additional storage available on external drives.
I just upgraded to Sierra.
I am using FCP 7.0.3 for my work and it is not working. I have researched the problem on Creativecow.net on the FCP Legacy Forum and I understand why FCP is not connecting to the media. It is not compatible with Sierra. I understand that I need to partition my HD and buy and install OSX Lion 10.7 in order to work in my FCP 7.0.3 project.
I would like to know how to safely have 2 OS on my system and switch between the two of them.
I need advice on how to partition my HD. I have not done this before, and when
I opened Disk Utility I could not open Partition.
Thank you.

To have two operating system on a MacBook with a single disk drive, it will be necessary to partition the drive so that each operating system can be installed in its own partition. Once you have done that you will then need to boot from the appropriate partition to start up the correct operating system for the work you are f\doing.
