The good news is the following steps will be helpful in resolving your issue. First, try force closing the Maps app and restart your iPad Pro as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly. Then test your issue again.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If your issue is still not resolved, I would suggest removing and re-adding the Maps app, since the Maps app can be reinstalled.
