How to stop iOS update reminders?

My iPad, without my permission, had downloaded iOS 10 to device. I do not want to update yet. I've already dismissed in iTunes the reminder with "never remind me again." And iTunes obey — so far no reminders in iTunes.

However, in device, every so often a pop-up interrupts me asking to install the iOS 10. I do not want to install! There are three options: Install now; Later; Details. Even if I click Later, it gives me the security pad to install now. There's a "remind later" but I do not ever want to get reminded later!

Help!

Is there a way to completely uninstall the iOS 10 from device, thereby also removing the red flag on the Settings icon?

iPad Air, iOS 9.3.5, null

Delete the actual iOS update app under Settings/General/Storage & iCloud Usage/Manage Storage, then find the iOS update app, tap on it, then tap the "Delete App" button.

The device will still download the update (again and again) provided that you have:

1. Sufficient free storage space to accommodate the update app

2. The device is connected to a working Wi-Fi connection

3. The device is connected to external power

After deleting the update app a few times, the badge on the Settings icon should clear by itself, however you'll still need to delete the update app when it gets auto-pushed to your device again. It's unsure (on my end at least) if when the update badge is cleared (as above) that the reminders will/will not stop. I have not had one in awhile but that's just my experience.

Disabling Find My iPad will not help. I've already stated the conditions which dictate if the update will be downloaded again. The easiest way to prevent it is to disable Wi-Fi or turn on Airplane Mode while your device is charging.

Other ways include setting up a block in your Wi-Fi router (under access settings or similar) to mesu.apple.com so that the update server cannot communicate with your device. This will only work on your personal Wi-Fi router in which you have setup the block. You are still fair game when you connect to other Wi-Fi routers that do not have the block setup and the above stated three conditions are met.

I've also turned off "Find my iPad." Not sure if it'll help.

In my concurrent research just now, I came across this seemingly lengthy solution.

I'll also add that I don't have any experience one way or another with disabling Find My iPhone/iPad and the auto-pushed iOS update being disabled in the process. It may work, it may not so my comment above about it not working is not valid.
