Q: not all photos are imported from the phone

Good day.

I am trying to import photos for the first time from my iPhone 6 (10.0.2) to Photos (1.0.1) using my 2008 Macbook (10.10.5), but not all pictures were imported.

I have 790 photos and 18 videos which I would like to be transferred to my Macbook but only 66 pictures were recognized when I plugged my phone, which were eventually transferred successfully to Photos of the laptop.

I still have more than adequate hard drive space in my Macbook.

How come the Photos app in my Macbook cannot recognize the pictures in the Photos app in my iPhone? How can I transfer the other pictures?

Please help, thanks.

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

Are all the photos in your Camera Roll? Because an import will only automatically import your current photos.

Are any of the photos in albums other than the Camera Roll?

    Cheers,

    Hi Gail,

Upon checking my phone's Photos app, I don't have a Camera Roll. In the Albums tab, I only have All Photos, People, Places, Videos, Selfies, Panoramas and Recently Deleted but no Camera Roll.

Among the 66 pictures that were recognized by the Macbook Photos app and eventually imported, some pictures were more than 2 years ago, not current!

If you can clarify this dilemma, it's much appreciated

    Thanks for the time.

    a few things

1 - you are far behind - the current software is OS X Sierra 10.12 and Photos 2.0 and there have been many, many, many bug fixes and new features included inthe six or seven updates you have missed

2 - we need to know your iCloud settings on the Mac and the IOS devices - if you have iCloud Photo Library enabled it change the import capabilities

3 - how are you importing? iTune Sync, Direct USB import to Photos, Direct USB import to Image Capture? iCloud Photo Library? MyPhotoStream? - we need full details

    Hi Larry,

    1. My Macbook is not included anymore in the list suitable for the Mac OS Sierra upgrade. Am using a late 2008 model. Thus I cannot upgrade to Photos 2.0 as well

    2. My Macbook iCloud settings for Photos: there's a check for the tabs for iCloud Photo Library, My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing

My iOS iCloud settings for Photos: iCloud Photo Library tab, Upload to My Photo Stream tab, and iCloud Photo Sharing tab are all ON or checked

    3. I'm importing via direct USB sync to Photos

I hope I gave you more info. Still trying to transfer the pictures.

    Much appreciative of your time.

So you have checked iCloud Photo Library on the Mac and the IOS device - then you do not import - you use iCloud Photo Library to sync the devices - first they upload to iCloud and after that upload is complete then photos are downloaded - at the bottom of the Photos display what is the status in Photos on the Mac? Of in teh Photos Preferences ==> iCLoud

Sorry Larry, I am confused with your reply.

What do you mean "at the bottom of the Photos display what is the status in Photos on the Mac? Of in teh Photos Preferences ==> iCLoud"?

As posted - in the Photos application ==> Photos view at the status at the bottom of the screen

at the bottom of the Photos display what is the status in Photos on the Mac? Or in the Photos Preferences ==> iCLoud
