5000 songs is 44gb??

i Just got apple music for my new iPhone 7 plus 128 gb, i like to download music so I don't waste data and can play it when I have no service, I have downloaded about 5200 songs and it'a claiming it is 44gb, that can't be right, right? I see people say 5000 songs should be more like 20gbs, can anyone help me out and figure why mine is so much more gb, thanks.
