Q: iPhone 6 Plus flickering gray bar of death!

A few days ago, I started getting a flickering gray bar at the top of my phone screen. Yes, THAT flickering gray bar! I've done a bit of reading on the web and as other people have found out, it's becoming an increasing problem among 6 plus users. Something about the touch IC chips separating from the motherboard? It renders my phone un-useable as the screen refuses to respond. I managed to do a backup followed by a full factory reset but to no avail. I can bring the screen back by taking hold of the phone on opposite corners and twisting it gently but it's not long before the flickering begins and the screen is unresponsive.

My phone case is as new as the day I bought it - no scratches, no bending or warping so this is more than just having it in my back pocket and carelessly sitting on it.

The most annoying thing is it's the SECOND hardware failure I've had with this phone in the time I've had it, the first being the failed camera component that caused blurred photos.

So are Apple doing something about this? Out of warranty or extended warranty repair program? Or have I got to buy a new or refurbished phone?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.3.2

    Hi

Apple has not announced an Exchange and Repair Extension Program for a flickering or unresponsive screen on iPhone 6 Plus.

I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation to establish your available service options, likely timescales and cost:

I'm afraid that no-one here can tell you what Apple will decide or advise (this is a user-based community).

Um, yeah, I kinda worked out a while ago that Apple don't read these forums which is why I phrased the question as "does ANYBODY know anything?". There are people here who keep their ear to the ground with Apple and may have heard something on the subject

Anyhoo, the Apple Store  told me it cannot be repaired so they've booked me in to the Genius Bar to sort out a replacement phone. The guy in the store just told me to make sure I do a full back up beforehand. Whether I have to pay for the replacement I won't know until I attend the appointment but from the sounds of things, they are fully aware of the issue.  Perhaps they are dealing with it on a customer by customer basis for now.

Your question was not phrased in that way.
