Q: Photo folder created on iPhone not backing up?

Hi,

 

apologies if this or a similar question has been asked, but i am unable to find an answer, either here or on youtube.

 

iMac 27" Late 2013 (Running Sierra) latest iTunes and Photos.

iPhone 7 128GB (UK Spec)

 

All photos sync fine and transfer fine, but the issue i have is this,

 

i created 4 personal photo folders on my iPhone 6S with over 200 in each, after backing up and sync'ing to my iMac, i then restored the backup to my new iPhone 7, all was fine, everything was there, photos, apps etc. the 4 personal photo folders were there, but they were all empty, so i had to then manually add the photos back in to the folders.

 

is this normal, as when the iPhone is plugged in to the iMac, both iTunes and Photos do not see the folders that i created on the iPhone.

 

any advice, help, guidance?

    Yes, this is normal.  When you import from your iPhone by plugging it into a USB port and launch Photos or Image Capture, the Mac will import the unmodified photos from the Camera Roll, right as they came from the camera - no edits applied, no Favorites mark, no custom albums. You an only import the original photos.
